HickoryTech, an integrated communications provider that operates a regional fiber network in Minnesota and Iowa, said Wednesday that it has tapped Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) to provide it with a multiscreen IPTV platform that will enable it to offer personalizable interactive TV applications built by independent developers, as well as such advanced services as HDTV, PVR and fast channel-change. The HickoryTech-Nokia Siemens Networks contract also covers professional services, including care services, the companies say. "There is a growing demand for a superior TV experience that allows a high degree of interactivity and personalization," Damon Dutz, president of HickoryTech's Consumer and Network Solutions division, said in a prepared statement.
